Tra due mondi, tra due epoche, Ousmane DIA mescola superstizioni e credenze europee con i rituali del sacrificio animale nel continente africano. Le maschere dei dottori della peste della Morte Nera si mescolano a quelle di vittime di animali e spazzini.

La sedia, il filo conduttore di tutto il lavoro di Ousmane DIA, qui ci ricorda soprattutto la nostra umanità. Ci ricorda che siamo tutti collegati, interdipendenti e che sperimentiamo tutti la stessa sfida nell’affrontare le iniziazioni della vita.

“Faced with the prospect of illness and death, restlessness wins, the need to control intensifies. Sacrifices, predictions and beliefs decline depending on the time and the continent, in an attempt to control what escapes us, what we try to bury in oblivion for a lifetime, our destiny sealed by death.

Between two worlds, between two eras, Ousmane DIA mixes European superstitions and beliefs with the rituals of animal sacrifice on the African continent. The masks of the doctors of the Black Death plague mix and mingle with those of animal casualties and scavengers.
