Touch Ground

TOUCH GROUND

Touch Ground has been conceived as a cultural platform designed to connect design, the city, and community.

It is a cultural format that uses design to interpret places, foster participation, and generate new relationships between cultural institutions, citizens, creative enterprises, and urban spaces.

The project has been developed in Mestre as a contemporary laboratory for urban cultural experimentation.

The Concept

WHERE DESIGN MEETS THE TERRITORY

TOUCH GROUND is motivated from a question:

How can design become a cultural tool capable of making a tangible impact on urban life?

The project proposes an approach that brings design:

  • from territory to interaction
  • from idea to experience
  • from project to cooperation
  • from exhibition to participation

Design is understood as a cultural dimension capable of:

  • telling the story of a place
  • generating awareness
  • activating communities
  • shaping contemporary imaginaries
  • creating connections between people and places

Mestre as a Cultural Laboratory

Mestre is the ideal context for developing a project of this kind.

It is a creative multi layered, and evolving city. A city that encompasses diverse identities:

  • industrial heritage
  • urban infrastructure
  • multiculturalism
  • social transformation
  • emerging creative energies
  • growing cultural networks

TOUCH GROUND does not look at Mestre as the periphery of Venice, but as an autonomous territory for contemporary experimentation.

The project aims at building a new narrative of the city through:

  • design
  • cultural practices
  • public participation
  • urban activations
  • shared experiences

Cultural Targets

1. Activate the Territory

Create connections between cultural institutions, urban spaces, communities, and local productive realities.

2. Expand Audiences

Engage diverse and cross-generational audiences:

  • families
  • students
  • creative professionals
  • residents
  • occasional visitors
  • local communities

3. Make Design Accessible

Integrate design into everyday life.

4. Create a Continuous Cultural Presence

Move beyond the concept of a temporary event and establish an ongoing cultural platform.

5. Strengthen Mestre’s Cultural Identity

Contribute to shaping the image of Mestre as a contemporary cultural hub.

Development Model

TOUCH GROUND has been conceived as a scalable format.

Phase 1

Mestre — Pilot Project

Building the local cultural ecosystem.

Phase 2

Territorial Consolidation

Expanding cultural, educational, and participatory networks.

Phase 3

Potential expansion of the format to other Italian cities through cultural partnerships.

Why Now

Today, cultural hubs are places where creativity takes place. They are:

  • social platform
  • places for creating participation
  • interdisciplinary spaces
  • catalysts for local development
  • producers of creative and cultural experiences

TOUCH GROUND has been created precisely within this vision.

A project that enables a new dialogue between:

  • cultural institutions
  • art places
  • creative hubs
  • the city
  • communities

Italiano

— design

— pratiche creative

— formazione

— esperienze condivise

Obiettivi culturali

1 Attivare il territorio

Creare connessioni tra istituzioni culturali, hub creativi, luoghi dell’arte, comunità e industria.

2 Ampliare i pubblici

Coinvolgere pubblici trasversali:

— cittadini

— professionisti

— artisti e designer

— hub creativi e aziende

TOUCH GROUND è pensato come format scalabile.

Fase 1

Mestre — progetto pilota

— spazi multidisciplinari dell’interazione

— attivatori territoriali

— istituzioni

— hub creativi

— comunità

— luoghi dell’arte
